Iraq keen to Import Rice, Wheat from India

Iraq will buy 100,000 tonnes of rice from India and is keen to increase import of wheat, sugar and other agricultural products in a bid to diversify the trade basket, Iraq's Trade Minister Kheer Allah Hassan Babkr said Tuesday. Wheat exports to more than double in 2012-13 on record harvest

Wheat exports from India, the world’s second-biggest producer, is expected to more than double to 1.5 million tonnes in the 2012-13 marketing year on account of back-to-back record harvest, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in a report. “Assuming the current export price parity for Indian wheat vis-a-vis other origins, 2012-13 marketing year wheat exports are forecast at 1.5 million tonnes,” the report said. Government proposes food processing cluster in Africa at Rs 117 crore

The ministry of food processing industries is planning to set up a food processing cluster in Africa. The proposed cluster would entail an investment of Rs 117 crore to be spent primarily on the setting up of common infrastructure for food processing parks which includes cold storage, food testing labs, incubation centres, standard designed factories, pre-cooling chambers and other modern technologies used by the industry. This cluster is .....
